This is my final ballot for Sunday’s Oscars.
And we start off with the hardest pick:
1. Best Picture
Will win: Last year, I risked it all on Boyhood (and lost my pool). I’m staying safe this year with The Revenant.
Should win: Holding out hope that Spotlight pulls it off. That and Mad Max are my favorites of this line-up.
2. Director
Will win: Alejandro G. Iñárritu, The Revenant
Should win: George Miller, Mad Max: Fury Road
3. Actor
Will win: Just give it to Leo already. Get it over with.
Should win: I admit it, Leo gave one of his better performances in The Revenant. Fassbender was fine, but the other three (Damon, Redmayne, or Cranston) didn’t really deserve their nominations.
4. Actress
Will win: Brie Larson, Room
Should win: Saoirse Ronan in Brooklyn is the performance that sticks with me. Larson, Blanchett, Rampling were also stellar.
5. Supporting Actor
Will win: Sylvester Stallone, Creed
Should win: Since Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation) didn’t make the cut, my vote goes to Christian Bale, The Big Short.
6. Supporting Actress
Will win: Alicia Vikander, The Danish Girl
Should win: If we’re talking actual supporting performances, Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs) was a delight. Vikander and Rooney Mara (Carol) are both fantastic in the wrong category.
7. Original Screenplay
Will win: Josh Singer and Tom McCarthy, Spotlight
Should win: Josh Singer and Tom McCarthy, Spotlight
8. Adapted Screenplay
Will win: Charles Randolph and Adam McKay, The Big Short
Should win: Phyllis Nagy, Carol

Will win: Son of Saul
10. Animated Feature
Will win: Inside Out
11. Documentary
Will win: Amy
12. Original Score
Will win: Ennio Morricone, The Hateful Eight
